Popular Violin String Sets

In addition to the full set of Dominant strings, another popular option among violinists is to replace the Dominant E string with the E string from another brand. If the violinist prefers a specific sound for their instrument, these combinations can often result in a warmer or more projecting tone for the upper strings.

Sets include:

Thomastik Dominant A, D (aluminum or silver), and G strings.

Your choice of E string:

Goldbrokat E: An E string with punch and edge. The Goldbrokat E adds brilliance and is quite flexible.
Hill E: Not as powerful as the other E strings, but is popular for its very sweet sound.
Gold Label E: Stronger than the other Thomastic Dominant E strings and has a wonderful ringing tone.
Jargar E: Shares qualities similar to the Gold Label E with a rounder, more powerful sound.
Larsen E: Rounds out the Thomastik Dominant A, D and G helping them sound more like gut strings.
Pirasto Oliv E: The Oliv E is brilliant and powerful especially in higher positions.
